JAW collaborates with governmental bodies to enhance accountability and advocate for fair, unbiased investigations into violations and abuses. This fosters justice, peace, and security by reducing impunity.
In conflict or post-conflict areas where JAW operates, violence and human rights abuses by security forces and institutions are prevalent. Sometimes, the same institutions are responsible for holding perpetrators accountable for crimes, which often leads to little or no accountability. If individuals within an institution are involved, securing accountability becomes less likely.
This is why JAW seeks to work with institutions by enhancing their capacities, promoting independent investigations into alleged violations and abuses and holding them accountable, thus reducing impunity, and fostering justice, peace, and security for all.
